beamshot comparison: NP400, SF, Barbolight, Malkoff..
Many people are wondering, what beam you get from the new Peak flashlights.
Here is a little comparison between the Nightpatrol 400 with P7 led and optics and some other well known flashlights. All pics were made with manual settings, target distance is about 25m. The pics were changed to black/white and I did a adjustement in posterize. The pics are not the best ones, but I think it is possible to get an idea of the different beams. Surefire LX2 on 2 CR123 on high. TIR optic Barbolight T-04, SSC P4 led, 1x18650, op reflektor new Barbolight T220, Cree XR-E Q5, 1x18650, op reflector Malkoff M60 in G2L host, 2xRCR123 Malkoff M61 in MD2 host, 2xRCR123, optics Anto XP-G dropin in Solarforce L2P host, 1x18650, op-reflector Peak Nightpatrol NP400, P7 led, 2xRCR123, optics Barbolight T900, P7 led, 2x18650, op-reflector The NP400 is suited for short and medium distances, it isn't a thrower. Its beam shows a little donut hole (it is a dark little cross as the one between the 4 dies in the led) and the kind of square beam doesn't have a very smooth transition from spot to spill.. Whitewall hunters won't be very happy with the beam, but the users will be. The NP illuminates a very wide area with an impressive wall of light. You can light up a whole room without having to sweep your flashlight from one corner to the next one. Build quality is top notch, the NP is very sturdy, the price is very reasonable. Michael |
